Stephen Girard Legacy Society
The Stephen Girard Legacy Society recognizes the generosity of benefactors who have made estate gifts to Girard College and paved the way forward for our scholars’ success. When you notify the Office of Advancement that Girard College is named as the beneficiary of a gift through your estate, or through a planned gift during your lifetime, you are automatically enrolled. The Stephen Girard Legacy Society has many living members, including those who choose to remain anonymous.
Examples of planned gifts include:
- A gift of any amount through a will provision or revocable “living” trust
- A 401(k), IRA, SEP, or similar retirement plan beneficiary designation
- A donor-advised fund
- A charitable remainder trust
- A charitable gift annuity
- A charitable lead trust
- A life-insurance policy beneficiary designation
- A real estate gift or gift of unusual assets
Member benefits:

- Recognition in Girard College publications
- Reports on the investment performance of gifts to Girard College, as required by gift type
- A handsome Legacy Society pin – a badge of distinction
